Preschool Tuition Scholarship Program
Preschool tuition scholarships are available for 3, 4 & 5 year olds who live in Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth or Cherokee counties. Scholarships are based on income eligibility - but the range is quite broad, so parents may be eligible for preschool scholarships even if they are not eligible for other services that are also based on income eligibility.

Preschool Update Meeting
It is time again to get together for our preschool update meeting to prepare for the 2011-2012 preschool year. There will be two meetings scheduled so you may choose which works best for your staff and schedule – you need only attend one session – the content of each will be the same. If your preschool is eligible and interested in receiving preschool tuition scholarships next year, it is necessary for us to get new service agreements from you and this meeting will be mandatory.
The meetings will be held at 400 Central Ave NW in Orange City from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on the following dates: July 19th or 28th. Staff members who should attend are individuals from preschools that are involved with explaining the scholarship program to families, signing the agreement or completing reimbursement claims (administrators and/or head preschool teachers).
What we plan to do:
· Complete the service agreement that will include your reimbursement rates (please have rates determined before you arrive)
· Distribute and explain 2010-2011 forms
· Discuss QRS requirements
· Complete QRS action plan
Please bring the following:
· Your preschool team and/or management staff (1 or 2 people)
· Preschool Tuition Scholarship notebook
· A copy of your preschool DHS license or a signed statement from superintendent/principal that you are a preschool governed by a school system
· A copy of your program’s fee policy or tuition charges
· QRS notebook
Please note: you have not been sent any 2011-2012 scholarship application forms from us yet because the legislative session is still in session (was supposed to end by April 29th), so we have not been able to move forward as of yet. We will get those to you as soon as we are able to do so. Thank you for your patience.

Requirements for parents
In order to receive preschool tuition scholarships parents will need to fill out an application form and give it the participating preschool they wish to attend, along with a copy of their most recent tax return statement. If they prefer, they may send it directly to our office at 400 Central Ave NW, Orange City, IA 51041.
Exclusions
NECI is not able to provide preschool tuition scholarships to children if they are eligible for Head Start AND Head Start has current openings. If children are eligible for Head Start but there are no openings available, NECI may be able to fund their preschool scholarship. To receive a Head Start application, parents can call (800) 859-2025.
NECI is not able to provide preschool tuition scholarships for 4-yr olds who are attending a preschool slot funded by the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program.
